| why is that?
Lack of a working compiler that runs on my systems and students'.
I've read suggestions that people should downgrade to older GCC.
This is something I will NOT recommend.
If recent version of GCC cannot work with Aldor, why should I expect
my systems to work properly with older versions of GCC when they
are packaged with recent version of GCC?

No doubt many things are missing. But, at least I can build a working
compiler and work with it on my current systems. I can even show
students how it is programed to work -- however disguisting the
innards may be.
