More important than what works with certain flags and under certain
conditions is, in my opinion, what does not work under which
conditions. In extremum, it would be similar to saying "this code
works on Debian/AMD64 Lenny if you use the GNU C compiler with -O2
-fno-peephole2" (this is actually a real-world example of inline
assembler that works by abusing a compiler bug in a prerelease of gcc
4.2.3 from 2007/11/23, shipped with debian lenny at the time of
writing).

I am more than willing to look into this issue in more detail, but I
am still unsure about the license issues.
