Yes, it is a problem. The Aldor project is not "live" because it
really has not project leader.

We have previously discussed the possibility of setting up a parallel
development project on another public site. This would be a *branch*
not a fork. In fact if we had the co-operation of aldor.org this
branch could actually be a branch on the aldor.org site. The intention
would be to produce a new experimental distribution of Aldor that
would (eventually) be merged back to trunk.

Perhaps it is time to do something like this?
